The British ministry of agriculture issued a statement this week saying “independent scientific advisers” had concluded that the evidence in a Union report on the health risks from eating beef produced using hormones did not justify a ban. The news will be welcomed by the US, which argues that the EU embargo has no basis in science and has imposed sanctions on almost €100 million of imports from the Union.
