Economic indicators:

Spring 1999 Economic Forecasts. The Commission has published its Spring 1999 economic forecasts, which indicate GDP growth in the EU of 2.1% in 1999 and 2.7% in 2000. This follows growth of 2.9% in 1998. Recent international economic difficulties are having an effect on trade volumes and investment.
