Swedish Foreign Minister Anna Lindh wants to set a date for EU enlargement during her country’s presidency of the Union in the next first half of 2001

"It would be very positive if we can reach so far that we can set a goal for a date during our presidency period," she said this week. But she added that it was still too early to decide when the EU could take in new members.
