EU spending on agriculture will be nearly 1 billion euro below original forecasts, according to estimates issued by the Commission this week.

Budget Commissioner Michaele Schreyer said projected farm spending had been cut to some €38.6 billion because of changes in the exchange rate with the dollar and improvements in agri-cultural markets.
