Research co-funded by the European Commission has helped produce a radical breakthrough that now enables brain surgery to be carried out without the use of a knife. Cancer and other brain tumours can now be treated using a combination of an instrument called Gamma Knife and an imaging technique called PET, which is unique in the world. |
