Russian gives Red Cross chief access to Chechnya

Following a trilateral ministerial meeting of EU, US and Russian officials in Lisbon on 3.3.00, Russia bowed to western pressure for greater international access to Chechnya by agreeing to a visit by the president of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
