Dalia Grybauskaite, Commissioner for Financial Programming and Budget, welcomed the European Parliament’s adoption on 15 December 2005 of the EU budget for 2006. Payment appropriations in 2006 were to amount to €111.9 billion, or 1.01% of GNI. Commitments appropriations were fixed at €121.2 billion or 1.09% of GNI. In 2006, the biggest increase of funding from EU budget was for: competitiveness (+4.4%), cohesion (+4.5%) and 'the EU as a global partner' (+9.5%) - these figures reflected EU priorities. |
