The European Medicines Agency (EMEA) on 15 December 2005, launched an ‘SME Office’ to provide administrative and procedural assistance to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) seeking to develop and market innovative new medicines. This followed the adoption, by the European Commission of a new Regulation aimed at promoting innovation and the development of new medicinal products by SMEs.
