Poor science literacy and an identified divide between science and society are blamed for many public misconceptions of science. This is the target of a significant campaign – at the EU and national levels – to redress the situation. ‘Science communication' is reaching buzzword status and strings of events organised to improve it are ample proof of its rise in political stature. But, as a new report points out, not all events hit the mark. The EU-funded study behind the publication reads as a ‘how to' for future event planners in science communication. |
