Corruption remains a big problem

The European Commission on 10 May 2006 adopted a long-awaited monitoring report on Bulgaria's readiness for accession to the EU on the scheduled date 1 January 2007. While the Commission confirmed the date it identified six problems of serious concern which called for urgent action on the part of the Bulgarian Government.
