Report of a meeting of six EU Interior Ministers and European Commissioner for Justice, Freedom and Security, Franco Frattini, to discuss the terrorism threat facing Europe, London, 16 August 2006. UK Home Secretary John Reid said Europe faced a 'persistent and very real' threat from terrorism. Europe faced a 'common threat from terrorists, and we should respond in a common fashion,' he said. Ministers representing the current Finnish EU Presidency (July-December 2006), the future EU Presidencies (Germany, Portugal, Slovenia and France), the UK Home Secretary and Vice-President Frattini of the European Commission discussed the EU’s plans relating to terrorism for the remainder of the year and onwards. |
