Vneshtorgbank, the second largest Russian state-controlled bank, has bought a 5.02 per cent stake in EADS, worth €913m at the current share price, making itthe largest investor in Europe's leading aerospace and defence groupoutside the group of core EADS shareholders. The stake was probably a step towards attempting to foster closer co-operation between the Russian aircraft industry and EADS, on sourcing of raw materials and components, and development projects. |
