Press Release: State aid: Commission launches probe for possible misuse of restructuring aid to Polish steel company Arcelor Huta Warszawa

The European Commission has opened under EC Treaty state aid rules an in-depth investigation into the possible misuse of restructuring aid by the Polish steel producer Arcelor Huta Warszawa. The investigation aims to establish the precise facts of the case and whether the aid has been used in accordance with Protocol 8 of the Accession Treaty (on the restructuring of the Polish steel industry). The opening of the investigation will give an opportunity to interested parties to submit their views, and does not prejudge the outcome of the procedure.
