The European Commission has cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed acquisition of the cable operator Telenet (Belgium) by Liberty Global Europe (The Netherlands) a subsidiary of US Liberty Global Inc. ("LGI"), and the closely related acquisition of UPC Belgium by Telenet. The Commission has concluded that the planned operation would not result in a significant impediment to effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA), or any substantial part of it. |
