The European Commission has cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed entry by Lite-On, a Taiwan technology company, into Philips & BenQ Digital Storage Corporation (PBDS) of Taiwan. Under the planned transaction, Lite-On would replace BenQ as shareholder, while Philips NV would maintain its shares. The Commission concluded that the transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) or in any substantial part of it. |
