Progress in tackling the under-representation of women in policy and management jobs in the European Commission has been sustained over the last two years. During 2001, the European Commission appointed five women to Director posts, 19 women Heads of Unit and recruited 111 women from external competitions as administrators. This means that nearly all the targets have been met. New targets will be set for 2002 . The Commission's aim is to double the representation of women in senior management posts (A1 and A2) by the end of its mandate (this means appointing 22 women to these grades by December 2004). |
