An overall assessment of the implementation of the 2001 Broad Economic Policy Guidelines was adopted by the European Commission on 21 February 2002. The main conclusions of the report are that macroeconomic policies adapted appropriately to the worsening macroeconomic performance in 2001. While the slowdown took its toll on Member States' public finances, structural budget positions did generally not worsen. |
