The European Commission decided on 3 April 2002 to approve the so called dual-use exemption under the UK's Climate Change Levy. The European Commission already approved several measures under the Climate Change Levy in March 2001, including exemptions for the use of electricity generated from renewable resources and for companies entering into Climate Change Agreements. However, it had opened the formal State aid investigation procedure in relation to the dual use exemption, because of certain doubts about its effects on competition and its environmental consequences |
