In an on-line consultation launched in July 2002, the European Commission's Internal Market Directorate-General is seeking views from those who have faced problems in using the internet such as registering an Internet domain name in good faith only to receive a threatening letter accusing them of being 'cybersquatters'. The survey is part of the Interactive Policy Making initiative. The results will feed into the European Commission's consideration of public policy rules for the European Union Internet top level domain, which will carry the suffix '.eu' that will be introduced under the '.eu' Regulation adopted by the European Parliament and the Council in April 2002
