The French Prime Minister, Jean-Pierre Raffarin, launched the first 'Europe Forum' in Orléans on 6 December 2002, together with Sandra Kalniete, the Lithuanian Foreign Affairs Minister, Dominique de Villepin, the French Foreign Affairs Minister and Noëlle Lenoir, the French Minister for Europe. He thereby inaugurated a national debate to increase French awareness of key European issues at a critical time in its history. |
