España se adelanta 4,5 años a Europa en la liberalización energética [Spain is 4.5 years ahead of Europe in terms of energy liberalisation]

From 1 January 2003, the Spanish gas and electricity markets will be fully liberalised. In this respect, Spain will be ahead of the European Union's directives on the liberalisation of energy markets by four and a half years. These directives must be implemented by all member states by 1 July 2007, following the agreement reached in Brussels on 25 November 2002 by European Union energy ministers.
