The European Commission suffered two setbacks on 7 February 2002 in its bid to win support for Galileo, an ambitious €3.6bn Galileo satellite navigation programme. At a private meeting on 7 February 2002 the Commission and its consultants failed to convince doubting Member States that the programme would make commercial sense. Also on 7 February 2002, the European Parliament voted against the Commission's plans for a 'joint undertaking' to run the project. |
