Plan to break deadlock on EU pension reform / Spanish plan may resolve EU pensions dispute

An 18-month deadlock on reforms to allow pension funds to operate across Europe could be broken under a compromise proposed by Spain.

The proposals, which could be agreed by the end of June 2002, will for the first time allow pan-European pension funds to be set up within a few regulatory limits.
