The European Commission adopted the Second Progress Report on economic and social cohesion on 30 January 2003. The report provides a summary of the 'great debate' on the future of European regional policy for the period beginning in 2007 in the context of an enlarged European Union. In this way, it sets an agenda for the Commission's proposals, which will be published before the end of 2003 for a new-look regional policy capable of responding to the needs arising not only in the new Member States but also in the Fifteen. |
