Euro Fannie Mae: No thanks

A European Mortgage Finance Agency (EMFA) has been proposed to the European Commission by a group of European banks, that would create a pan-European capital market in mortgage-backed securities and encourage the growth of long-term fixed rate mortgages without early redemption fees. Editorial argues that the European Union should not underwrite the mortgage market.
