Chirac vents ire over behaviour of EU candidates

At the end of the emergency European Council Summit in Brussels on 17 February 2003, Jacques Chirac berated those accession countries that signed a letter of support for the United States over the Iraqi crisis. His comments also embraced the 10 ex-communist countries forming the so-called Vilnius group awaiting EU membership, which also subscribed to another similar letter backing the US.
