EU’s big three promise to push reforms

The UK Prime Minister, Tony Blair, Chancellor Gerhard Schröder of Germany and President Jacques Chirac of France signed a joint declaration on 5 February 2003, setting out their aims and objectives for making the European Union the world's most dynamic and competitive economic region by 2010. The declaration was in the form of a letter to Konstantinos Simitis, the chair of the Greek EU Presidency.
