Labour ‘facing backlash over EU’

The Labour government in the UK is facing pressure from its own members and voters for a referendum on the proposed European constitution, a senior Labour MP, Frank Field, has said. It follows calls by Conservatives, 26 March 2004, to voters to use the European elections in June 2004 to voice their views on what the party calls “this dangerous document”.
