Press Release: Freedom to provide services: two infringement procedures against France – medical laboratories and artificial insemination of bovines

The Commission decided on 28 October 2004 to remind France of its obligation to comply with a judgment delivered by the European Court of Justice in March 2004 requiring it to amend its legislation on medical laboratories. The Commission also decided to bring France before the Court of Justice in connection with its legislation on artificial insemination services for bovines, which, according to the Commission, constituted a barrier to the freedom of establishment and the freedom to provide services.
