Press Release: New measures against terrorism – Communication on the terrorist financing

The European Commission adopted on 20 October 2004 a Communication on Prevention of and the Fight against Terrorist Financing. The document focuses on the need to enhance information exchange among relevant actors at national, EU and international levels. Also highlighted is the need to facilitate co-operation and exchange structures encompassing fiscal authorities, financial oversight bodies, the Justice Department, intelligence community, law enforcement authorities and authorities in charge of administrative freezing.
