Press Release: EU electronic communications markets: outlook good, but more progress needed on regulatory reform

The European Commission adopted its 10th Report on the implementation of the EU electronic communications regulatory package, 'European Electronic Communications Regulation and Markets 2004' on 6 December 2004. This report, which for the first time covered 25 Member States, highlighted the strong expansion of mobile and broadband communications. Despite progress on reform, the Commission was concerned that delays and ineffective application in some Member States could hinder competition, innovation and investment.
