Press Release: Commission’s report indicates that governments should do more to implement energy market opening measures

The European Commission issued its annual report on the functioning of the internal market in electricity and gas on 5 January 2005. The main conclusions were that governments had to step up efforts to implement the market opening measures in the gas and electricity Directives. Only greater integration of national markets could bring the required improvements to competition in the Energy internal market.
