The European Commission on 15 February 2005 referred the examination under the EU Merger Regulation of the proposed acquisition of the North Rhine-Westphalian network cable operator 'Ish' by the Hessian cable operator 'Iesy' to the German competition authority (the Bundeskartellamt) mainly because both undertakings were exclusively active in Germany. The Bundeskartellamt was then to examine whether the merger would lead to competition problems in Germany. |
