Press Release: Cyprus: Statements by President Papadopoulos and European Council President

President of the European Council, Mr Jean-Claude Juncker, has warned that Turkey could not begin accession talks with the European Union on 3 October 2005 unless she signed the protocol adapting the Ankara Agreement and extending her Customs Union to include all ten new EU Member States, including the Cyprus Republic.
