The European Commission on 23 March 2005 cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed acquisition of the importing and trading business of Pagnan S.p.A. by Cargill Incorporated. After examining the operation, the Commission concluded that the transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the EEA or any substantial part of it and has therefore approved the concentration.
