The European Commission on 20 July 2005 authorised under EC Treaty rules on state aid schemes aimed at preserving national heritage in Poland and Hungary as well as a Danish scheme allowing tax deductions for donations to cultural institutions. In all three cases, the Commission took a positive view as the schemes focussed on non-commercial cultural activities and avoided distortions of competition as much as possible. |
