	The European Commission on 26 August 2005 cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed acquisition of Storage Technology Corp. ('StorageTek'), the US storage solutions company, by Sun Microsystems Inc. ('SUN'), the US network computing products and services company. After examining the operation carefully, the Commission concluded that the transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the EEA or any substantial part of it and therefore approved the concentration.
