Commissioner dismisses need for EU-wide code

The first meeting of the European Corporate Governance Forum was held on 20 January 2005. Charlie McCreevy, European Commissioner for the Internal Market, dismissed the idea of a European Union-wide corporate governance code arguing that such codes should fall within the remit of either industry or national regulators.
