The Commission has adopted a Regulation for the recovery of the cod stock in the Irish Sea. The recovery plan establishes a closed area for a 10-week period. These measures were decided after a meeting between Commission officials and stakeholders in Brussels on 21.1.00. This is the second time that the Commission has used its power to set up measures without having to refer to the other Community institutions. |
