Press Release: Commission proposes new steps to further implement the pre-accession strategy for Turkey

The European Commission proposed on the 26 July 2000 rules to allow the drawing up of an Accession Partnership with Turkey later this year as well as a single financial framework for the EU assistance to this country. This represents a further step in the implementation of the strategy towards Turkey, which was approved by the EU Heads of State and Governments in Helsinki, December 1999.
