UK-Luxembourg rift slows progress on negotiations

Negotiations for a European Union directive to ensure taxation of savings income made slow progress on 2.5.00, at a meeting of junior finance ministers, despite growing support from Germany, France, Italy and Spain for a British proposal to exchange information about EU residents' interest income among national tax authorities.
