Press Release: Commission’s White Paper on European Communication Policy. Debating Europe – involving citizens

The European Commission on 1 February 2006 adopted a White Paper on a European Communication Policy. The White Paper followed the publication of the Commission Action Plan on Communication, adopted in July 2005, which outlined the steps that the Commission would take to reform its own communication activities, to get closer to citizens and to be more responsive to their concerns. European citizens and all interested parties were invited to respond to the White Paper by logging on to a specially-created multilingual website in a consultation that was to run for six months.
