On 9 May, pupils in the schools of the four corners of Europe discussed the EU's role in the world with European Commission 'ambassadors'. By going local, to talk directly to European students (13-18 year-olds) and listen to their views, the Commission 'ambassadors' hoped to stimulate debate on the EU's commitment to solidarity. The 'Europe Day in Schools’ initiative, organised in collaboration with regional authorities, aimed to raise awareness among young people of the EU's actions to fight poverty in the world. Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian Aid, Louis Michel will take part in the initiative and visit students in Belgium. |
