Date set for vote on GdF, Suez

Feuding French politicians yesterday gave a big boost to the planned €72bn ($91bn) merger of Gaz de France and Suez by agreeing to vote on the state-controlled gas group's privatisation on the 3 October 2006. The decision came as the two companies were preparing to submit a list of concessions to assuage European competition concerns over the merger.
