The European Council's ongoing commitment to viewing migration challenges and opportunities as one of the major priorities for the EU at the start of the 21st century has received a boost with the European Parliament's approval on 14 December 2006 of the Commission's Justice, Freedom and Security financial programme for 2007-2013 which allocates almost € 4 billion euros to migration issues. |
