Norway gives pledge on ‘reliable energy supply’

Norway is well placed to provide continental Europe with secure energy supplies at a time when Russia, the region's main supplier, is becoming increasingly belligerent, according to Helge Lund, chief executive of Statoil, the country's state-owned oil giant. 'We have put our emphasis on being reliable and that is at the heart of our thinking, both as a company and as a nation,' he said in an interview, January 2007.
