Euro cash: five and familiar

It is already five years since euro cash was first introduced in January 2002. Euro banknotes and coins have now become an accepted
part of life for the citizens of the 12 Member States that were the first to introduce euro cash. The euro is also used outside the euro area,
notably in neighbouring countries and regions, as well as in tourist destinations all over the world, and has established itself as a major
international currency.
