Jacques Barrot, Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for Transport, was in Washington 30 April 2007 to sign the first-ever aviation treaty between the European Union and the United States, together with Council President Wolfgang Tiefensee, US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and US Transportation Secretary Mary Peters.
