EU police database sharing agreed

Police in European Union countries will be able to access DNA, fingerprint and car registration databases run by other member states under an agreement reached at a Justice and Home Affairs Council, Brussels, 15 February 2007. The Council agreed on the integration into the EU legal framework of the parts of the Prüm Treaty relating to police and judicial cooperation in criminal matters (Title VI of the EU Treaty, the so called 'third pillar'), with the exception of the provision relating to cross-border police intervention in the event of imminent danger (Article 18).
