The first meeting of the European Energy and Transport Forum was held in Brussels on 8 October 2002. The forum, a consultative committee set up by the Commission, aims to offer a combined approach to tackling the major challenges facing energy and transport policies. It has 34 members (and 34 alternates) who were appointed for a renewable period of two years from 1 July 2002. The members are leading figures representing a broad range of activities and skills in the fields of energy and transport: operators (energy producers, carriers, firms), infrastructures and network managers, users and consumers, trade unions, environmental protection, safety, and the academic world. |
